FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I register for classes at any time? Yes, you may register at any time. We do require that you “Save A Spot” via e-mail (click here) to secure a place in class. We accept “Save A Spot” reservations each week until Wednesday at noon. If you reserve a spot after the cut off on Wednesday, you will not be placed in a class until the following week. In order to ensure that all members receive quality instruction, we limit group lesson class sizes. Because of this, there may be times when some group class offerings are filled to capacity. Again, if we do not have a class spot for you, you will be invited to skate as our guest the first week. We will adjust classes for the next week to accommodate you while maintaining our desired class ratios.
What happens if I register in the middle of a session?
If you register in the middle of a session, we will pro-rate the session fees accordingly. Do you offer multiple family member discounts? Yes, we do offer multiple family discounts. We pride ourselves on trying to make the skating experience enjoyable and affordable for the whole family. Do you offer classes for chldren with special needs?
Please contact us to see if our program can accomodate your child's needs. How long are the lessons? Lessons are from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Each class is 30 minutes long and then the skater can practice for the remaining 90 minutes. How old does my skater need to be to participate in group lessons? We start kids out skating at age 2 in the "My Tot & Me" class. Our age range for lessons is 2 to 92. Our philosophy is "You are never to old to learn something new".
What should I wear to group lessons?
Ice rinks have winter weather year round so dress in layers of comfortable warm clothing. Don’t forget gloves or mittens. Hats and/or safety approved helmets are strongly encouraged. If your child is participating in the Hockey classes, we require a hockey helmet and cage. How do I know if classes are cancelled due to weather?
Cancellations will be posted on our website's Home page by 2:00 PM on the day of class. Additionally, you can call us at 574-288-3300 ext 202 and listen to the message.
Can I rent skates at the Ice Box? Yes, we have a large selection of both figure skates and hockey skates. What size rental skate should I get?
Rental skates should be the same size as your shoe or one size smaller. What is the fee for rental skates?
The fee for rental skates is $3.00 per pair. We also offer a Skate Rental Value Pass for $16.00 that is good for 8 skate rentals.
